One year pre-sea training for graduates (GME) and two-year pre sea training for diploma holders (DME) both leading to class IV marine engineer officer at Vels Academy of Maritime Education and Training (VAMET),Velan Nagar, PV Vaithiyalingam Road, Pallavaram, Chennai-600117. City centre at 521/2 Anna Salai, opp G R complex, Nandanam, Chennai-600035.
You need: Minimum 50% in the final year and at least 50% in English at class X or XII or a diploma degree in BE/ B Tech mech engineering or naval arch, maximum 24 years as on March 5,2007and/or diploma in mechanical/ marine/naval arch/electrical engg/ electrical and electronics engineering; maximum 22 years as on March 5,2007. Physically fit for sea service with eyesight upto plus or minus 2.5 and no colour blindness
