Tezpur University Admission Notice 2006-07
Applications in prescribed forms are invited from eligible candidates for admission to the following programmes:
M.A, in Cultural Studies (Modular): Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline. M.A. in English: Bachelor’s degree preferably with Major/Honours in English. M.A. in Mass Communication and Journalism: Bachelor’s degree in any discipline.
M.A. in Sociology: Bachelor’s degree with sociology as one of the subjects or having Honours/ Major in Sociology/History/Political Science/Economics/Education/Anthropology/Philosophy/Home Science.
M. A./ M. Sc. in Mathematics: BA/B. Sc. with Major/Honours in Mathematics, Physics or Statistics. Candidates with Major/Honours in subjects other than Mathematics must have Mathematics as a subsidiary subject.
M. Sc. in Environmental Science: B. Sc. (Agri)/B.Sc. with Major/ Honours in Chemistry or Zoology or Botany or Physics or Environmental Science.
M.Sc. in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (for 8 seats reserved for candidates from NE states): Bachelor’s degree in Physical, Biological, Agricultural, Veterinary, Fishery Sciences, Pharmacy, Engineering/Technology, Four years BS programme, MBBS, BDS with minimum 55% marks.
M.Sc. in Physics: B.Sc. with Major/Honours in Physics with Mathematics as one of the subsidiary subjects.
M.Sc. in Applied Chemistry: B.Sc. with Chemistry as Major/ Honours subject and Physics and Mathematics as subsidiary subjects
M.Sc. in Nanoscience and Technology: B. Sc. with (i) Major in Physics with Chemistry, Biology / Mathematics as allied subjects or ii) Major in Chemistry with Physics, Biology / Mathematics as allied subject or (Ni) Major in Biology with Physics , Chemistry / Mathematics as allied subjects.
M.Sc. in Food Processing Technology: Bachelor’s degree in Physical/Bio-logical/Agricultural/Fishery/Horticultural Sciences or Home Science(with food and nutrition specialization) or BVSc. or B.Tech. /B.E. in Food Technology or any other equivalent degree. Mathematics at 10+2 is desirable.
Master of Computer Application (MCA): Bachelor’s degree in any discipline and having passed in Mathematics as a subject at 10+2 level.
M.Tech. in Bio-Electronics: B.E./B.Tech. in Electronics and Communication Engineering/Instrumentation/Chemical Engineering/Computer Science & Engineering/Electrical Engineering/Biomedical Engineering/ Bioengineerihg/ Neuro engineering/ Genetic Engineering/Biotechnology/MBBS or M.Sc. in Biotechnology/Biochemistry/ Chemistry/Polymer Science / Physics /Electronics/ Nanoscience and Technology (with Mathematics at 10+2 level). GATE qualified candidates will get preference..
M.Tech. in Computational Seismology: Master’s degree in Mathematics / Statistics / Physics / Computer Science / Earth Science (having Mathematics at degree level} or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering except Chemical / Metallurgical / Agricultural / Bio / Textile.
M.Tech. in Electronics Design & Technology: B. E. / B. Tech. /AMIE in Electronics / Electrical / Instrumentation Engineering or M. Sc. in Electronics /Physics (Electronics as specialization)/AMIETE. GATE qualified candidates will get preference.
M.Tech. in Energy Technology: B.E./B. Tech./ AMIE in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Electronics/ Instrumentation/ Chemical/ Agricultural Engineering/ Energy Engineering or M. Sc. in Physics and Chemistry. GATE qualified candidates will get preference.
M.Tech. in Information Technology: B.E. / B. Tech. degree in any discipline or MCA or M.Sc. in Computer Science /IT/ Electronics /Mathematics /Physics, GATE qualified candidates will get preference.
PG Diploma in Tourism Management (Modular): Bachelor’s degree in any discipline.
Certificate in Chinese: 10 + 2 with 45% of marks in aggregate
PROVISIONAL ADMISSION: Candidates who have appeared or are appearing in the qualifying examination in 2006 can also apply. They will be admitted provisionally if otherwise found eligible at the entrance examination and provided that they shall produce evidence of passing the qualifying examination by 31st October, 2006.
SELECTION On the basis of performances in the Entrance Examinations and/ or interview. Seats are reserved for SC/ST/Physically Handicapped candidates as per Central Govt. rules.
ENTRANCE EXAMINATION CENTRES: Agartala. Aizawl, Dibrugarh, Guwahati, Imphal, Itanagar, Jorhat, Kokrajhar, North Lakhimpur, Shillong, Silchar, Siliguri and Tezpur.
HOW TO APPLY:
Application forms together with prospectus can be obtained from: (i) Main Branches of SBI at Agartala, Aizawl, Dibrugarh, Guwahati(Panbazar), Imphal, Itanagar, Jorhat, Kokrajhar, North Lakhimpur, Shillong, Silchar, Siliguri and Tezpur by paying Rs.310/- in cash, or (ii) by sending a request to the office of the Controller of Examinations, Tezpur University with Bank Draft of Rs.350/- drawn in favour of the Registrar, Tezpur University payable at Tezpur and a self addressed unstamped envelope of size 30cm x 25cm, or (lit) In person by depositing Rs. 300/- to the University cash counter, or (iv) web-sites (www.tezu.ernet.in) or (tezpuru.tripod.com) Down-loaded application form must be submitted with a bank draft of Rs.300/- drawn in favour of the Registrar, Tezpur University payable at Tezpur.
