Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology (TIET), Patiala, established in 1956, and a Deemed University since 1985, offers Ph.D., PG and UG degree programmes in IT, BT and Core Engineering disciplines and also Dual Degree BE-MBA and PG Programme in Science, Management and Social Sciences. UG admissions are through AIEEE whereas GATE score and entrance test is the basis of PG admissions. Recent survey of Data quest -IDC-NASSCOM rated TIET at 9th rank among Top TECH. Schools in the country. The Institute is accredited by NAAC (UGC),NBA( AICTE)and certified for ISO-9001-2000.
The Information Brochure along with the Admission Form containing the details of eligibility, number of seats, reservation of seats (including Non-Resident Indian, Foreign National. Non-Resident Indian Sponsored/Foreign National Sponsored category), counselling/admission schedule, fees etc. and other details can be had at the Institute counter on payment of Rs-750/-OR by post through Bank Draft of Rs.800/- (US$ 30 for outside India) in favour of the Registrar, Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, Patiala payable at Patiala from the office of the Registrar.
BE/BTech Programme
Admissions to BE/8Tech programmes shall be made on the basis of merit in Ail India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE-2006) conducted by CBSE, New Delhi on April 30,2006. The candidates desirous of seeking admission in this Institute have to submit a separate application to this institute on prescribed application form appended in the Information Brochure of the institute.

MCA/ MSc (Biotechnology) Proaramme
Admissions to MCA/MSc (Biotechnology) programme shall be made on the basis of merit in the Entrance Test to be conducted by TIET, Patiala at Delhi and Patiala.
Candidates are required to send completely filled up form appended with the Institute Brochure on or before May 29,2006 along with a Demand Draft of Rs 1000/- in
favour of the Registrar TIET payable at Patiala.
The counseling for admission will be held at TIET on July 15,2006.
ME/MTech Proaramme
Admissions to ME/MTech programmes in the following disciplines will be made and preference will be given to GATE qualified candidates. The interview for GATE Qualified will be conducted on July 5,2006. For Non-GATE Qualified, TIET will conduct its own Entrance Examination at PatiaiaonJuly6,2006.
