Punjab Technical University Common Entrance Test 2006,For Admission To Engineering, Architectue & Pharmacy Courses

PTU is conducting admission to:

  • B. Tech, B. Arch and B. Pharmacy colleges affiliated to PTU comprising of 41 Engineering Colleges, 21 colleges of Pharmacy and 06 Colleges of Architecture.
  • B. Tech courses in Guru Nanak Dev University , Amristar Campus College two Regional Centres.
  • B. Tech courses in Punjabi University , Amristar, campus college and one Engineering College .
  • Agricultural Engg, course in PAU , Ludhiana

85% seats are reserved for candidates of Punjab residence and the remaining 15% seats are open on All India Basis.

  • Candidates may note that CET merit is the first criteria for admission to Management Quota seat.

For 15% seats in each college-admission will be based on AIEEE (details in prospect) merit. Students applying under this category need not take CET-2006. However, they must fill the relevant admission application form of PTU and submit application by 27-06-2006

Eligibiltiy :

i) For Engineering Course ;

All those candidate who have cleared 10+2 examination (see note) with pass in Physics. Mathmatics as compulsory subjects and any one of the following optional subjects:

Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology/Computer Science.

Those candidates who have passed diploma in any Engineering Trade from Punjab State Board of Technical Education, Chandigarh or Diploma/Certificate course from Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology, Longowal or such

Examination form any other recognized State Board of Technical Education.

ii) For Architecute Course

A candidate who has passed 10+2 examination (see note) and has secured not less than 50% marks with Mathematics and English as subjects of examination. OR

The Candidates who possessed qualification equivalent to 10+2, shall also cover 3 year (Diploma) recognized by the Centre/State Government provided the candidate passed the Diploma examination with 50% marks in aggregate shall be eligible for admission to 1 st year of a 5-year B.Arch. course subject to an aptitude test.

iii) For Pharmacy Course

Has pass 10+2 or its equivalent examination (see note) conducted by recognized Board/University/Council with pass in Physics and Chemistry

As compulsory subjects, along with any one of the following optional subjects :-

Mathematics/ Bio-Technology / Computer Science / Biology OR

All those candidates who have passed Diploma in pharmacy from an institution affiliated to Punjab State Board of Technical Education and Industrial training/Punjabi University, Patiala or any other University or any State Board of Technical Education provided that the diploma or the institute is duly approved by AICTE

Admission to different Universities shall be governed by their respective eligibility criteria

Sector-36, Chandigarh , Punjab ( Chandigarh )/ participating Universities and selected branches of PNB & IDBI . . The cost of Information Brochure is Rs. 500/- at counters and Rs. 550/- through post.

SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION :

  • Each Candidates desirous of taking CET-2006 is required to send his /her application on the prescribed application form along with the examination fee through a Bank Draft for the prescribed amount. Candidates must write his /her name, address and the application form number on the back of the Bank Draft.
  • Application form, complete in all respects must reach the Admission Cell, Entrance Test-2006, Punjab Technical University, Ladowali Road, Jalandhar-144 001 on or before 10-05-2006.

Note :

The candidates who are appearing in the 10+2 examination shall also be eligible to appear in the entrance test. The admission of such candidates to the Entrance Test shall be purely provisional and shall stand cancelled. If they fail to qualify in the aforesaid examination and such candidates shall have no claim whatsoever for the admission to these courses. Confirm all details from the Government notification in the prospect.

Tamilnadu Professional Courses Entrance Examinations (TNPCEE 2006)

TAMILNADU PROFESSIONAL COURSES ENTRANCE EXAMINATIONS 2006 (ENGINEERING, MEDICINE, AGRICULTURE AND VETERINARY & ANIMAL SCIENCES)

Tamil Nadu Professional Courses Entrance Examinations (TNPCEE) 2006 will be conducted by Anna University on behalf of the Government of Tamil Nadu on 18th and 19th May, 2006 as noted below for candidates who seek admission to all Professional Courses in Tamil Nadu, during 2006-2007 offered by Government, Government Aided Institutions under the control of (1) Anna University, (2) Directorate of Technical Education (3) Directorate of Medical Education, (4) Directorate of Indian Medicine and Homoeopathy, (5) Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (6) Tamil Nadu Veterinary & Animal Sciences University,(7) Bharathidasan Institute of Technology in Bharathidhasan University and
(8) seats voluntarily surrendered by the management of affiliated self-financing colleges in Tamil Nadu, which have opted to admit students cased on TNPCEE 2006.

Those who have already passed HSC or equivalent qualifying examination and those who have appeared for such qualifying examination during March 2006 can apply for these entrance examinations.

The details of courses offered in Engineering, Medicine, Agriculture, Veterinary and Animal Sciences by the admitting authorities are given in the “Information Booklet” available in the Anna University Web site and printed copies of information booklets are also available for Rs 10/- (by cash) at all online registration centres. The required eligibility conditions and other details will be available in the admission application forms issued by the respective admitting authorities at a later date.

All the candidates seeking admission to the above mentioned professional courses should (i) appear for TNPCEE 2006 and (ii) apply to the respective admitting authorities for admission when called for.

Important note: Entrance examinations will be conducted, based only on the syllabi prescribed for the second year of the Tamil Nadu State Board of Higher Secondary Courses in the concerned subject.

These entrance examinations are applicable to candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu and those who satisfy the nativity / domicile requirements specified for admission to the professional courses by the respective admitting authorities and

Other state candidates who seek admission for B.E./8-Tech. courses (a) in the constituent institutions of Anna University against the seats reserved for other state candidate and
(b) under Management Quota in self financing engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu
which have opted to admit students based on TNPCEE 2006 should also appear for
TNPCEE 2006.

Candidates are advised to look for separate advertisement to be released by the respective admitting authorities and file applications for admission accordingly. This advertisement gives only the details pertaining to the Entrance Examinations for admission to Professional Courses for the academic year 2006-2007.

Procedure for Registration of Application for TNPCEE 2006
Candidates desirous of appearing for the entrance examinations have to register their
applications through one of the following three modes:
1. Through Online Registration
2. Postal (by applying in the prescribed format)
3. Internet

Note: Online registration centre in an examination city/zone is for registering candidates who desire So write the examinations in that examination city/zone only. However, candidates
who prefer to write the examinations in any other examination city/zone has to apply by postal/internet mode. In respect of zones, candidates will be allotted any one of the colleges coming under that zone only. Candidate can register for any of the zones of Chennai City at the Centre for Entrance Examinations, Anna University.

1. Through Online Registration Centres: The entire process of filing applications by
candidates and issue of hall tickets immediately will be done through the identified online application registration centres. The procedure to be followed by the candidate for online registration is (a) Get a passport size photograph (b) get a Photocopy of HSC Hall Ticket
(or) any proof for name verification (c) a D.D, towards examination fee (refer Table-1
given below) (d) go to the online application registration centre in the city or zones in the city where the candidate desires to write the examinations (e) fill up the application form available at the registration centres or in the information booklet and submit it at the online registration centre (f) Your photograph will be taken using digital camera, (g) your application details will be entered in the computer (h) the Hall Ticket will be printed and given to you at the same centre. The addresses of the online application registration centres are given below.

In case the candidate is unable to appear in person for online registration, any person authorised by the candidate can submit all the items . mentioned above along with filled application form, with signatures of the candidate (columns provided in the application) and affixing two recently taken passport size photographs of the candidate on the space provided in the application form (one photo should be attested) and submit it to the online registration centre for getting the hall ticket.

2. Application by Post: Candidates who desires to apply through postal mode, have to fill in the application format given below (format is also available in the Information Booklet (Annexure 3) and in Anna University Website: www.annauniv.edu affix two recent passport size photographs in the space provided (one should be attested) and signature at the appropriate space. The completed application should be sent to Anna University along with the Demand Draft (refer Table-1 given below for details of examination fee) and a self addressed, stamped (Rs 51-) envelope (of size It cm X 26 cm) for sending the hall ticket by post. For receiving the hall ticket by speed post affix required stamps.

Postal Applications duly filled by the candidate should reach The Secretary, TNPCEE 2006, Anna University, Chennai – 600 025 on or before 2.5.2006. Please write the name of the examination city where the candidate desires to write the examinations and HSC registration number and year on the top left comer of the postal cover. Other State candidates, should also write “Other State” on the left top corner of the postal cover.

The form can be printed after filling the required details, and then the procedure for postal mode is to be followed.

Note

(1) The Tamil Nadu SC/ST candidates desirous of obtaining the fee concession, should produce a certificate obtained from the head of the institution last studied (or) copy of SC/ST Community Certificate (or) copy of the Transfer Certificate of the candidate to the effect that the candidate belongs to SC/ST Community.
(2) Demand Draft for the required amount should be drawn in favour of The Director, Entrance Examinations, Anna University, payable at Chennai obtained from any Nationalised/Scheduled bank on or after 07.04.2006. The candidate is instructed to write his/her name, +2 Registration Number and address on the reverse of the Demand Draft.
(3) Unused previous year question books, (Biology, Physical Sciences & Mathematics) subject to availability, can be had in person from the Centre for Entrance Examinations, Anna University on payment of Rs,10/- per book by cash and by post from the Secretary, TNPCEE, Anna University, Chennai – 600 025 through Demand Draft for the amount (in addition to the cost of the book, the postal charges of Rs. 30/- up to 3 books should be added) in favour of the Director, Entrance Examinations, Anna University payable at Chennai with a requisition letter and a self addressed slip.
(4) Filled applications received by post after the stipulated date will not be considered.

Indian Institutes Of Technology – Joint Entrance Examination 2006

For Admission to undergraduate courses at the above mentioned seven Indian Institutes of Technology, IT-BHU, Varanasi & Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad

Examination Schedule

April 9, 2006 (Sunday) – 08.00 – 10.00 hrs – Physics , 12.00 – 14.00 hrs – Mathematics, 16.00 – 18.00 hrs – Chemistry

Each of the above three papers(Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry) will be objective type in nature designed to test the comprehension and analytical ability of the Candidates.

Eligibility

1. Candidates appearing in (10+2) or equivalent qualifying examination in 2006 must secure at least 60% (55% for SC/ST and PD) marks in aggregate in their respective Board Examination.

In case the respective Boards award letter grades, without providing a norm for converting them to equivalent percentage marks, the norms decided by the Joint Implementation Committee of JEE shall be final (details to be provided in the Information Brochure Of JEE – 2006)

2. A student can have only two attempts to write JEE with effect from 2006 – in the year in which he or she passes the XIIth standard examination and / or in the following year.

3. Candidates who join any of the IITs, IT-BHU, Varanasi , and ISM, Dhanbad through JEE-2006 will not be permitted to appear in JEE in future.

4. Only those Candidates whose Date of Birth falls on or after October 1, 1981 are eligible for JEE-2006. However, in case of SC/ST,PD candidates the upper age limit is relaxed by five years i.e. SC/ST and PD candidates who have born on or after October 1, 1976 are eligible.

One time exception

Candidates, who have passed their qualifying examination in 2005 or earlier, will be permitted to appear in JEE – 2006, as a last chance, irrespective of the marks secured or the number of earlier attempts at JEE subject to their satisfying the age limit. This one time excemption will also be applicable to the candidates who are curently registered in any of the IITs, IT-BHU, Varanasi , and ISM, Dhanbad.

* Syllabus for this examination is already available on the website of all IITs and it will also be given in the Information Brochure of JEE-2006

* Application Form and Information Brochure will be available from 28th of November, 2005 to 6th January, 2006 .

Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) 2006 will be conducted by Anna University on behalf of the Government of Tamil Nadu on 27 th and 28 th May 2006 for candidates who seek admission to M.B.A., M.C.A., & M.E./M.Tech./M.Arch./M.Plan. Degree Programmes in Tamil Nadu for the year 2006-2007.

Important Dates:

i) Commencement of issue of Application form in Person / by post : 29.03.2006
ii) Last date for issue of Application form in person ( other than Chennai city) , by post from Examination Centre : 26.04.2006
iii) Last date for issue of Application form at Examination Centre, Anna University, Chennai 25 : 29.04.2006
iv) Last date for submission of filled in application in person/by post : 29.04.2006

The completed application forms should reach The Secretary, TANCET 2006, Examination Centre, Anna University, Chennai 600 025 on or before 29.04.2006, at 5.30 p.m.

Candidates have to appear for the Entrance Test at the allotted Centres at their own cost and risk.

7. EXAMINATION CENTRES

The Entrance Test will be conducted at the following cities:

Every effort will be made to comply with the candidate’s choice for the Entrance Test Centre. However, for reasons like non-availability of seats, another centre may be allotted for a few candidates. In any case, a centre once allotted cannot be altered for any reasons.

Applications are invited for Common Entrance Test for admission to:

1) MBA Degree Programme
2) MCA Degree Programme

College of Engineering, Anna University
Government & Govt. Aided Engineering Colleges
Government & Govt. Aided Arts and Science Colleges

The self financing colleges (Engg./ Arts and Science/ Stand Alone institutions) & Universities may opt to admit the candidates on the basis of the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test.

3) M.E./ M.Tech./M.Arch./M.Plan.Degree Programmes

1. Constituent Colleges of Anna University
2. Government Engineering Colleges
3. Govt. Aided Engineering Colleges

The self financing colleges (Engg./ Stand Alone institutions) may opt to admit the candidates on the basis of the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test under single window system of admission .

The procedure for seeking admission to the above said Degree Programmes consists of the following two steps:
1. Appearing for the Entrance Test in the relevant Programmes and
2. Applying for admission to the admitting authorities concerned.

Candidates are advised to look for separate advertisement to be released by the following admitting authorities for admission:

1. M.B.A., M.C.A., at all Engineering Colleges and in all Arts & Science Colleges – by the Directorate of Technical Education, Chennai – 25.

2. M.B.A., M.C.A., at the College of Engineering, Anna University – by the Director (Admissions), Anna University, Chennai – 600 025.

3. M.E/M.Tech./M.Arch./M.Plan. – GATE / Non-GATE (Aided & Self-Supporting – Full Time / Part Time) / Sponsored (Full Time / Part Time) categories, by the Secretary TANCA, Anna University, Chennai 25.

2. ENTRANCE TEST FEE

The application form is common for all the three entrance Tests. Candidates have to submit only one application form.

The cost of Application form for any one of the programmes either 1).M.B.A., or 2).M.C.A., or 3).M.E/M.Tech./M.Arch./M.Plan. is Rs.300/- ( Rs.150/- for Tamil Nadu SC/ST Candidates).

If the candidate is desirous to attend more than one Entrance Test, for every additional programme he/she has to enclose an additional Demand Draft for Rs.300/- (Rs.150/- for Tamil Nadu SC/ST Candidates), along with the filled in application form. The Demand Draft should be drawn in favour of “The Director, Entrance Examinations, Anna University” payable at Chennai obtained from any Nationalised Bank drawn on or after 26.3.2006.

3. ELIGIBILITY

M.B.A : Any Degree

M.C.A : A pass in any recognised Bachelor’s Degree of minimum 3 years duration in any discipline with Mathematics at 10+2 school level (or) with Mathematics as one of the subjects at degree level

M.E./M.Tech. /M.Arch./M.Plan. : The details of the eligibility for M.E./M.Tech./ M.Arch./M.Plan. Degree programmes are given in Annexure – I

For all the above programmes, candidates appearing for final year/semester examination of the said qualifying degree course in April / May 2006 may also apply.

Acceptance of a person as a candidate for writing the Entrance Test does not confer on the person the right of eligibility for admission to any of the above courses. The decision on the eligibility of the candidates for admission to a course entirely rests with the admitting authority offering the courses.

Other State candidates can write the entrance test but admission is subject to the approval of the admitting authority / University .

4. APPLICATION FORM AND ENCLOSURES

1. Application Form (without any folding)
2. Copy of Permanent Community Certificate (for Tamil Nadu SC/ST Candidates only).
3. Acknowledgement Card.
4. Additional DD(applicable only to candidates who are desirous to attend more than one Entrance Test)

Note: 1. DO NOT PUNCH OR STAPLE THE APPLICATION FORM.

2. DO NOT FOLD, SMUDGE OR SCRIBBLE ON THE APPLICATION FORM.

3. THE FILLED IN APPLICATION SHOULD BE KEPT LOOSELY AND SAFELY AND SENT IN THE SAME COVER PROVIDED FOR THIS PURPOSE.

5. MAILING ADDRESS

Completed applications should be sent to The Secretary, TANCET, Examination Centre, Anna University, Chennai – 600 025 so as to reach him on or before 5:30 p.m. on 29.04.2006. Candidates sending the applications by post should mail them sufficiently early so that the applications reach the University before the last date.

Note: The University is not responsible for any postal delay / Loss of the application in transit.

Cost of Application once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.
