National Institute Of Technology MCA Entrance Test & Admissions 2006

National Institutes of Technology (NITs) are premier technical Institutions of National repute. The NIMCET is a National Level Entrance Test conducted by NITs for admission to MCA programme offered by NITs. Applications in the prescribed format are invited for NIMCET-06, a common entrance test for admission to MCA Programme for the session 2006-07 in the following NITs :

ELIGIBILITY

Candidates with an aggregate of 60% marks ( 6.5/10 CGPA) in Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years duration from a recognized University in any discipline, with Mathematics as one of the subjects both in graduation and at 10+2 level are eligible. Those candidates who are appearing for the qualifying examinations in 2006 are also eligible to appear for the test. However, they will have to furnish proof of eligibility at the time of counselling / admission. Only Indian Nationals are eligible to appear for the NIMCET 2006 .

MODE OF SELECTION / ADMISSION FOR NIT MCA 2006

Admission to the MCA Programme at the above mentioned NITs is based on the rank obtained by the candidates in the NIMCET- 06 and as per the criteria of selection prescribed by the respective NITs. NIMCET-06 application is for entrance test and for admission to MCA programme at the above NITs

TEST – CENTRES (TENTATIVE) NITs at Allahabad , Bhopal , Calicut , Durgapur , Hamirpur, Jaipur, Jallandhar, Jamshedpur , Kurukshetra, Nagpur , Rourkela , Surat , Surathkal, Tiruchirappalli and Warangal.

HOW TO APPLY

Candidates Duly filled in applications should be sent to the Convenor, NIMCET- 06, NIT CALICUT,NIT Campus post – 673 601, KERALA along with an application fee of Rs.700/- (Rs. 350/- for SC/ST), in the form of a crossed demand draft drawn on State Bank of India, Chathamangalam (code 2207) or any other nationalized banks in favour of “Convenor, NIMCET-06” payable at Calicut / Kozhikode, so as to reach the Convenor by 27 th March 2006 .

The Orissa Private Engineering College Association (OPECA) invites applications for ORISSA Common Entrance Test (CET) 2006 organized by the association for the session 2006-2007 for admission to Engineering, MCA, Hotel Management & Architecture courses

ORISSA Common Entrance Test (CET) for 2006-2007 shall be held on 2nd July 2006 at Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Berhampur, Balasore, Bhadrak, Bargarh, Dhenkanal, Gunupur, Jeypore, Mayurbhanj, Parlakhemundi, Puri, Rayagada, Rourkela, Similiguda.

Exam Centres outside Orissa: Guwahati, Jamshedpur, Kharagpur, Kolkata & Raipur.

Eligibility:

ENGINEERING:
Pass in 10 + 2 or appearing of CHSE or equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics along with one of the following subjects: Chemistry/ Computer Science/ Biology/ Biotechnology.

MCA:
Pass or appearing in 2006 3 years Bachelor Degree Examination & have passed in Mathematics at 10+2 level or in +3 level.

ARCHITECTURE:
Pass or appearing in 2006 10+2 Examination of CHSE or equivalent with physics, Mathematics and English along with one of the following subjects. Chemistry/Engineering Drawing/Computer Science/Biology and must have secured minimum 50% marks in aggregate in +2 examination or Pass in Diploma in Architecture with at least 60% marks in aggregate.

HOTEL MANAGEMENT:
Pass or appeared in 10+2 examination in any stream (Science/Arts /Commerce)

Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (TIET) – 2006 Admission to MCA Program

ADMISSION TO MCA PROGRAMME

The MCA programme, duly sponsored by UGC, aims at producing human resources for software industry as increasing applications of computers in almost all areas of human endeavour has led to a vibrant industry with concurrent rapid change in technology.

The programme is spread over a period of three years consisting of six semesters. The students study courses for five semesters at the Institute and do a Software Development Project (SDP) in the sixth semester in top national and multi-national companies like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, DCM, Cadence, Hughes, etc.

The students with MCA degree are absorbed as software professionals, solution developers, system analysts in most reputed national and multi-national companies and other industrial/service organisations working in the field information technology field.

Number of Seats: 60

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Recognised Bachelors degree of minimum 3 years duration in any discipline with Mathematics atleast at 10+2 school level and has also qualified in the Entrance Test to be conducted by the Institute.

OR

Recognised Bachelor’s Degree of minimum 3 years duration in any discipline with Mathematics as one of the subjects and has also qualified in the Entrance Test to be conducted by the Institute.

Candidates due to appear in the qualifying examination are also eligible to appear in the Entrance Examination. Such candidates will be placed provisonally in the merit list. They will not be considered for admission if they fail to submit proof of passing the qualifying examination.

NRI/FN/NRIS/FNS CANDIDATES

Seats for NRI/FN/NRIS/FNS will be over and above the sanctioned strength. The candidates seeking admission under this category having foreign qualification shall be required to furnish equivalence certificate of qualifying examination from AIU located in AIU House, 16 Kotla Marg, New Delhi, at the time of submission of completed application form.

The tuition fee and development fee for this category of students shall be 7500 US $ and 1500 US $ per annum respectively. All other dues will be same as for other local students and can be paid either in US $ or in in Rupees currency .

The details of eligibility criteria, number of seats, etc. are detailed as under:

(a) NRI Candidates

5% (3) seats are reserved for the NRI candidates, i.e., who have passed the qualifying examination or its equivalent from abroad. The candidate must produce passport at the time of counselling.

Eligibility is:

Minimum 60% marks in any recognized Bachelor’s Degree of minimum 3 years’ duration in any discipline from abroad with Mathematics at 10+2 school level

OR

Minimum 60% marks in any recognized Bachelor’s Degree of minimum 3 years’ duration in any discipline from abroad with Mathematics as one of the subjects.

(b) FN Candidates

15% (9) seats are reserved for the Foreign National candidates i.e. who have passed the qualifying examination or its equivalent and hold a valid foreign passport. The candidate must produce passport at the time of counselling.Out of these 15% seats, 5% seats (3) are reserved for the children of Indians working in Gulf region.

Eligibility is:

Minimum 60% marks in any recognized Bachelor’s Degree of minimum 3 years’ duration in any discipline with Mathematics at 10+2 school level

OR

Minimum 60% marks in any recognized Bachelor’s Degree of minimum 3 years’ duration in any discipline with Mathematics as one of the subjects.

All FN candidates are required to deposit student visa endorsed to TIET.The VISA should be valid for the prescribed duration of the programme.

(c) NRIS/FNS Candidates

If the seats belonging to the FN & NRI categories at (a) and (b) are not filled up, the vacant seats shall be offered to the NRIS/FNS candidates having passed the qualifying examination or its equivalent from abroad/ India .

Eligibility is:

The admissions will be made on the merit of the Entrance Test to be conducted by the Institute, provided that he/she:

Should have passed in any recognized Bachelor’s Degree of minimum 3 years duration in any discipline with Mathematics at 10+2 school level.

Or

Should have passed in any recognized Bachelor’s Degree of minimum 3 years duration in any discipline with Mathematics as one of the subjects.

The Cut-off merit of the Entrance Test under NRIS/FNS category will be decided by the Admission Committee of the Institute.

Admission Procedure

Candidates should apply for admission on the prescribed form which is supplied with the Information Brochure, duly filled in their own handwriting, latest by stipulated dates.

Admission to Master of Computer Applications Programme will be made by the Admission Committee appointed by the Chairman, Senate. The admission against the sanctioned number of seats will be made on the basis of merit based on the Entrance Examination to be conducted by the Institute at Patiala and Delhi.

The admission for the seats reserved for Non-Resident Indian, Foreign National, Non-Resident Indian sponsored/Foreign National sponsored category will be made as per criteria laid down in the preceding section.

Provisional certificate from any authority whosoever will not be accepted on any grounds.

Candidates called for interview on a particular date shall report at 9.00 A.M. in the Auditorium of the Institute. A candidate who reports late will be offered seat, if available, at that time.

If a candidate does not receive the admit card by 05.6.2006 he/she should contact the Registrar of the Institute for issue of duplicate admit card. He/she should bring with him/her one passport size photograph.

A candidate who either does not seek admission on a particular date as per counselling/admission schedule or fails to attend counselling will also be eligible for admission in order of merit in the subsequent round of admission as per counselling/admission schedule.

Candidates must be medically fit and must bring alongwith them a medical fitness certificate signed by Gazetted Medical Officer at the time of admission on the prescribed proforma as per Annexure-IV failing which they will not be considered for admission.

All candidates must produce certificate of migration within a month of enrolment.

REFUND OF FEE

In case a student leaves the Institute a day before the second counselling, he/she will be refunded the balance amount after deduction of Rs. 5000/- from the total fees deposited by him/her.

In case a student leaves the Institute after the date specified above, he/she will be refunded only the Institute security, caution money and alumni fee.

All outstanding dues will, however, be recovered before such refund is made.

SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION

1. The application form complete in all respects should reach the Registrar by 5.00 P.M. on 29.5.2006. However the application form can be submitted by 5.00 P.M. on 5.6.2006 with late fee. Incomplete application forms and those received after the prescribed date will not be entertained under any circumstances. No correspondence/enquiry from such candidates shall be entertained.

The form can be down loaded from the website (www.tiet.ac.in) and must be accompanied by a crossed Demand Draft of Rs. 750/- drawn in favour of Registrar TIET, payable at Patiala in addition to the examination fee of Rs 1000/-.

2. Application must be accompanied by a crosed Bank Draft of Rs. 1000/- as Examination fee drawn in favour of the Registrar, Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala and payable at Patiala, and

(a) One passport size photograph pasted on the application form in the space provided for the purpose.

(b) Two passport size photographs pasted on the entrance examination admit card for the purpose.

(c) If a candidate wishes to claim an advantage of belonging to Scheduled Caste/Tribe, he/she is required to submit certificate as per format in annexure II.
